Computer Laboratory

Where are they?

There are five general computer laboratories in building 204. They are located in rooms 237, 239, 336, 338, and 340. Note that these facilities are under video surveillance and have an electronic locking system that requires you to swipe in and out with your student ID card.

How do I access them?

First of all, access is only via your ID card, but access is NOT automatically granted. Thus your first step is gain access is to visit the Engineering Helpdesk together with your enrolment advice. They will then process your ID card to have access to the Computer Laboratories.

Once you have been given the right to access, you use your ID card as a swipe card on the reader located next to the door of each of the labs. Once you have swiped to gain access to the room, note that you need to push on the door, as it is an electronic lock. Note too, that you should not allow others to enter on you card access, and especially people you do not know.

Using the computers

Two things to note when using the computers. First, do NOT turn the machines off. When you have finished, log out of your session and then just turn the MONITOR off. Do remember to log off. If you do not, someone else may access your account and use it in ways you may not wish. Please Do NOT lock a machine. If you need to leave the laboratory for some time, then log out.

OASIS Account

First of all, note that you can only login to the computers if you have a valid OASIS account. OASIS (Online Access to Student Information Services) is a secure gateway to electronic services provided to you as a student at Curtin. Students will need to get their OASIS account set up and initialised to be able to utilise the computer laboratory resources. The link to the OASIS home page is http://www.students.curtin.edu.au.
